OTS Lab Assistant

Job Description 

Following is a brief profile for the Lab Assistant staff position in the CANS Labs.

Job Tasks
Perform various operating procedures for computer lab including assisting lab patrons with lab procedures and software questions; distributing print jobs; maintaining and cleaning lab PCs and furniture.

Job Skills

  1. Requires fluent English communication skills
  2. Dependability and punctuality
  3. Ability and desire to work in a customer service environment
  4. Should possess some intermediate skills in Windows 2000; MS Office 2000 applications; TU email account (Tiger); web browsers and publishing, and TU OpenWebmail
  5. Telephone communication skills
Following is the Performance Evaluation that the Lab Manager completes for each Lab Assistant at the end of a semester. The scores on this evaluation determine whether or not a Lab Assistant will be hired the following semester and under what conditions. 

Each of the categories below will receive one of the following grades:
 
Grade Points
Outstanding 5
Above Average  4
Satisfactory  3
Below Standards  2
Unsatisfactory  1


Categories for Evaluation

  1. Consistantly communicates with supervisors
  2. Maintains work schedule, is punctual, calls promptly when illness or emergency arises
  3. Completes time sheet promptly and properly
  4. Works efficiently without close supervision 
  5. Cooperatively serves users and assists co-workers 
  6. Attended meetings, training sessions
