announcements. Faculty and staff who have questions about this info,
should see their supervisors for clarifications.
The best way to find out is call 830-2000 or 830-NEWS (6397).
In the Baltimore area:
Following is the official policy: Morning ClosingsWhen a snow storm occurs overnight or during early morning hours, the vice president for administration and finance will make a decision before 6 a.m. to close campus or delay opening. University Relations will call radio, television and the Associated Press wire service immediately with one of the following announcements. In addition, University Relations will send a message to all E-mail users for the benefit of those who have E-mail at home.One of the floowing announcements will be made:
Afternoon ClosingsWhen a storm occurs during the day, a decision to close administrative departments early, or cancel classes, or put the liberal leave policy in effect will be made by 1 p.m., and media will be called immediately. The vice president for administration and finance will contact the Office of Human Resources, which will notify all departments. In addition, University Relations will send a campus-wide announcement by E-mail. Invoking the liberal leave policy or the early closing of administrative departments will be communicated internally only. Administrative leave will be granted only if the University closes.The following announcement will be given to media regarding canceled evening classes (i.e, classes beginning after 4 PM)
If afternoon and evening classes are canceled, the following announcement
will be made:
Please do not call the Univ. Police to ask whether the campus is closed. If for some reason you cannot access the info. Through radio, television, or E-mail, there will be a recorded message indicating campus closing on 830-NEWS.
